"Give a man a fish – he eats for a day, teach a man to fish…
he will eat his whole life"
Firstly, peoples need for a financial assistance to make a substantial step forward in their life. Secondly, good people who want to donate in a way that they know will make a difference to the individual and not pay a salary in an organization. Of those two needs came the idea of Psifas. In 2008 it was decided that the fund will be dedicated to Eliezer Gluberman and Yosef Goodman z"l.
The Psifas helps all sectors and all ages with donations of different kinds: Assistance with funding professional funding and various studies, purchasing equipment for opening a business, Psycho didactic diagnosis and more.
the fund doesn’t assist with medical treatments or to purchase medical equipment.
Many people would like to help others but cannot find an organization that allows them to give the full amount of the donation to the chosen destination. Instead, of the donation will find salaries and logistics along the way. The Psifas fund works on a voluntary basis only and the donations do not fund salaries or any form of logistics.
Every month, a committee meets voluntarily and discusses the requests that were sent in that month. There is a preference made to the requests with the most potential of implementing the donation in a way that the person who applied can take a substantial step forward in his life.
The decisions are made in a democratic way. The fund will then send a report to all donors about the people who will be receiving the donation that month.
The donations aren’t given to the bank account of the person making the request. Instead it is given to the structure from which the person is asking a service (for example a school from which the person is asking to get an education), in order to guarantee that the donation helps achieving the goal it is meant to achieve.
The fund is paid by small donations of private people- a minimal donation of one person can go a long way if there are more just like it. This way the Psifas fund helps 100 people every year, take that first step at helping themselves.
The committee is composed of volunteers of different fields and in the organization itself there are many volunteers who work on raising money, translation and marketing.
